Andrew Grossman received a B.A. in English from Sarah Lawrence College, and an M.A. in English from Rutgers University. In 2001, he edited and coauthored an anthology of film criticism, Queer Asian Cinema: Shadows in the Shade, the first anthology to address particularly LGBT Asian films. Since then, his published criticism has included numerous reviews and academic essays, with a particular eye towards transgressive, queer, and East Asian subjects. He has written book chapters for the critical anthologies 24 Frames: The Films of Korea and Japan (2004, New York University Press), The New Korean Cinema (2005, Edinburgh University Press), and Chinese Connections: Diaspora, Identity, and Text (Temple University Press, 2007). He is also associate editor of the online periodical Bright Lights Film Journal, where his most recent writing can be accessed. Not That Kind of Christian!!, which premiered at the Breckenridge and Montreal World Film Festivals in the summer of 2007, is his first film.
